First Sickness

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

It is the most daunting feeling when you hear your baby is congested or, starts to sound sick. For me, it feels like the end of the world. I am guilty of being a huge germ-a-phobe, and knowing somehow I let my infant get sick kills me. Even though I know kids will get sick and it is not my fault. Violet is five months now and it is quite possible she is teething, but, I am not too certain.

When Lily would get sick, we used a booger bulb sucker that would disconnect and you could clean and sterilize it. She hated it and would scream every time. We use the Little Remedies Saline Spray recommended by her doctor because she would always get ear infections. Which she still does and we are looking into other options. Her doctor told us if we drained her nose often it would prevent ear infections. Maybe if we had the below when she first started daycare it would have helped even more.

This nasal aspirator has worked wonders! I really wish we would have had this for Lily. It is hospital grade it works so well! It is a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. Violet did not like it at first but it seems she is used to it now. Here are some tips on using this aspirator: make sure you clean it well, don't use the same tips on each child, and do not use in nostril for more than four seconds.
